Sugar addiction is a common addiction among adults and children.
Weaning off refined sugars is important for longevity and good health.
Sugar can spike your insulin levels which makes you crave more food.
Sugar is hidden in so many food products and that is why it is so hard to avoid it. Nevertheless, you can make it possible because your health is important.
So what can you eat when the sugar craving hits?
Here are my favourite healthy substitutes:
· Apple
· Avocado
· Medjool dates
· Salted cucumber
· Hard-boiled eggs
· Baked sweet potato
· PANA dark chocolate
· Raw or stewed pears
· Raw or soaked almonds
· Fresh raspberries and strawberries
· Raw carrots or freshly squeezed carrot juice
· Herbal teas of peppermint, cinnamon or aniseed
· A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a cup of warm water
· Seed crackers (Olina’s, Carmen’s or Mary’s Gone) dipped in hummus or labne
· Greek (plain, whole) yoghurt with crushed almonds, ground cinnamon and raw honey
Happy eating,
