What is the hype about protein and who really needs it?
There are a lot of conflicting evidences about protein and meat.
Protein is an essential nutrition made from amino acid building blocks. Protein is essential for repairing cells and improving cell and tissue structure.
Protein is critical for everybody, but knowing which protein source to select is essential for better digestion and good health.
In order to answer this question of ‘Is protein right for me?’, you must determine whether you are a plant eater or a meat eater, biologically.
Meat eaters thrive on protein coming from red meat, while plant eaters seem to be resistant to red meat altogether. Biologically, meat eaters secrete more stomach acid to digest meat faster than plant eaters. As it digests better, the body is able to utilise the energy and nutrition of meat more efficiently. This may explain why some people have success with ketogenic or paleo diets while for others it may have been a disaster!
How can you tell whether your body is a meat eating machine or a plant eating machine? Follow the steps below as a guide to help you determine what is right for.
Step 1: Discover your blood type as this could be your main indicator as to whether meat is the right or wrong protein source for you. Those with blood type O tend to thrive more so on red meat protein. Those with blood type A tend to do better with protein coming from plant sources such as legumes, nuts and seeds. If you are blood type B, your body loves a variety of different protein sources, but in particular it loves dairy protein.
Step 2: Be in tune with your body and monitor how you feel after consuming a meaty meal. Do you feel sluggish after a meaty steak or do you feel energetic?
Step 3: If you are considering vegetarian or vegan diets for ethical reasons, this might be the option for you to select sole plant protein sources.
Step 4: Test both diets yourself and monitor how you feel. Everyone’s body is unique so you will be the one to determine what’s right for you.
