Fruit is best eaten on an empty stomach. This is usually when we wake up in the morning. A fruit salad is ideal for breakfast. Otherwise, enjoy 2 servings of fruits, daily.
2 serves of fruit = 2 cups of fruit.
Eat Fruits Alone
Most fruits have an alkalizing effect on our stomach when eaten alone. This means it will not become acidic and cause indigestion. It will also prevent episodes of acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux (GERD).
Do you mix your fruit with your lunch and dinner?
Fruits can become acidic when mixed with other foods (except for green leafy vegetables). Give yourself a 2-hour time period before moving onto your next meal.
Fruit Snacking
Afternoon snacks of fresh whole fruits are also ideal if you leave a 2-3-hour time period before having your dinner as it takes roughly 2-3 hours for the food to leave your stomach.
Fresh whole fruits are a flavoursome package of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fibre to satisfy your nutritional needs.
Fruits that are currently in season means they peak in flavour, are more nutritious and cheaper in price.
Spring fruits include: strawberries, blueberries, passionfruit, pineapple and banana.
Happy eating,
